It's true, the traditional British boozer or public house has given birth to some of the greatest sports ever created. Many of which you don't even need to put your pint down to play (yes Marjory in accounts, we're looking at you).
Mostly these are games of nerve, skill and precision which, well, sound a little bit too tame and a bit too sportsmanlike for us. So we've remixed and re-maxed them. We've made them bigger, better, crazier and far less predictable. We've also increased the need for teamwork and good communication.
You'll be taking part in a number of different events; each designed to mirror and bring back memories of all your favourite pub games:
We've moved all the events further away from the bar because… well, discretion is the better part of valour, but the worst part of team building, where everything is likely to get shouted about and laughed at as all the team enjoy a brilliant day of joint challenges. Best of all, the Publympics is hugely competitive and doesn't require you all heading to another country or all having to walk in waving flags (although we wouldn't stop you).
You really don't need to spend years training, in fact, you don't need any training, just a willing attitude and a willingness to laugh in the face of failure. In fact, fitness won't help you here, the Publympics are a true leveller and something the whole company can join in with, whether you run marathons in your spare time or eat Marathons in your spare time (yes we know they're called 'Snickers' now but then that joke wouldn't work!).
You can, of course, add your own fun elements: create names of your nations, ask all the teams to arrive in different colours, create a moto or a flag, you can take it as far as you like. Or you can do no more than turn up. It's your event and you can do it your way.
